Copyright Law

Copyright law is federal law. The statute is found under Title 17 of the United States Code. The Copyright Office of the Library of Congress is responsible for overseeing all matters pertaining to registration, administration and maintenance of copyrights. The Copyright Office does not provide legal advice, but it does provide information concerning the regulations and procedures it utilizes in carrying out its responsibilities under the copyright law. (37 C.F.R. Part 201.2; Copyright Office Circular 1b).
