South Jersey Laws
International Marriage

A United States citizen or permanent resident may marry a non-citizen. The couple has the responsibility of proving to the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) that the marriage is valid so that the non-citizen can live in the United States. Marrying a citizen is a convenient and quick way for a non-citizen to come and permanently live in this country, but because of this, the government is very careful about marriages between citizens and non-citizens.
