Notice for Eviction
N.J.S. 2A: 42-10.15 to N.J.S. 2A: 42-10.16: The Fair Eviction Notice Act


Any order for eviction of a tenant issued by the Court in New Jersey must:

  • Advise the tenant of the right to ask for a stay or postponement of the eviction;
  • Advise the tenant of any eligibility for temporary housing or other social service, along with contact information for local welfare services;
  • Provide a three day waiting period after notification before any eviction can take place;
  • Provide that the eviction can only take place between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m., unless there is good reason for a different time.
