Police Sergeant Indicted for Bribery A grand jury has indicted a police sergeant convicted of using his private contracting business to steal insurance money from his customers.

Hamilton Township Police Sgt. Jeffrey Nemes was charged with bribery in official and political matters and conspiracy in this week's indictment.

Prosecutors said Nemes offered bribes to two Hamilton fire chiefs, asking them to delay their response to fire scenes, hold back suppression of fires or cause additional damage.

The new charges are part of an ongoing investigation being led by the state's Office of Insurance Fraud.

Officials said there was no evidence that the unidentified fire officials took part in the bribery scheme.
