Workers Will Stay on the Job

by NBC10/AP | Sep 14, 2004
Workers Will Stay on the Job Gamblers should be able to get their drinks and enjoy the buffet at 11 Atlantic City casinos for a while longer.

Workers, whose contract expires at midnight, said that they plan to remain on the job past the deadline, delaying a possible strike as negotiations continue.

Local 54 spokesman Chris Magoulas said that the Hotel Employees and Restaurant Employees union is doing everything possible to avert a strike just days before the Miss America Pageant.

The union, which represents about 17,000 workers, is planning a march on the Boardwalk for Thursday. It has not ruled out the possibility of a strike if no agreement is reached.

The contract talks involve every casino except Borgata.
