Firefighter Feared Drowned

The Coast Guard on Friday called off the search for a volunteer firefighter who went missing off the coast of North Wildwood.

The Coast Guard said the 25-year-old man was drinking with friends when he swam out to a sandbar called Champagne Island.

Officials believe the man was caught in a rip current. His name has not been released, but it is believed the man is from Pennsylvania.

The search will resume today.
