Toddler Dies in 4-Vehicle Accident A four-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer killed a young girl Wednesday morning along Route 130 in Burlington.

Four other people were hurt in the accident that shut down the roadway for hours.

A witness to the crash, Larry Mobley, said he couldn't believe his eyes when he saw the horrible accident.

According to police, a tractor-trailer was headed southbound on route 130 when the accident happened.

"The truck hit a car, glanced over the median and hit two more cars and sort of went over the top of the other cars," said Sgt. Steven Wenger, of the Burlington Township Police Department

Police said the truck ran over a Mercedes that was carrying three passengers including a 3-year-old girl. The toddler, who was in the back seat, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The parents in the Mercedes, the mother was hurt real bad. She was taken out on stretcher and the daughter had to be held back from being hysterical from seeing the child in the back," Mobley said.

Four people were transported to area hospitals, including the mother of the toddler. Police are still investigating whether slick roads, speeding or some other factor caused the accident.

They are also trying to find out if the toddler had been in a car seat. Neither a car seat nor a booster seat has been found.

The driver of the truck is being investigated, police said.
