Mother Charged in Child`s Death

The mother of 11-month-old girl who was allegedly beaten to death by her father is now in trouble with the law.

Police have charged David Walden with murder in the death of Kira Walden, who died while Walden was baby-sitting her on Oct. 24.

But investigators also said that the girl's mother, 21-year-old Katie Donnachie, is also partially responsible because she ignored Walden's history.

Donnachie, of Clementon, N.J., has been charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Prosecutors said they filed that charge because Donnachie left her baby in Walden's custody numerous times. Investigators said Walden should never have been left alone with a child because it was a violation of his parole for a prior child abuse conviction.
