Allies Inc. Allies Inc. was incorporated in July 1999 to serve the needs of people with disabilities and their families. Their purpose is to provide innovative residential, employment and advocacy programs for individuals with disabilities based on their choices and needs. Allies goal has always been to provide an array of choices for the individual and their family and to offer creative programs that capitalize on the gifts, talents and preferences of the individual. This approach offers the genuine road to independence, self-determination and self-sufficiency.

Krystal Odell, former President and CEO of Allies Inc., said, “Allies is a creative partner with families and individuals to plan for themselves or their loved one. We offer a wide variety of services aimed at helping people to gain their independence-to the greatest degree possible. Our two newest programs; Success of Saving, a financial literacy program empowering people with disabilities to learn to save and budget while gain control over their life and their finances and our housing division, Allies Development Corporation which will be maximizing affordable housing alternative for people with disabilities. Allies has the only financial literacy program funded in the state for people with disabilities and we are a grantee from the Department of Community Affairs to develop affordable housing starts. We are currently working on some HUD special needs projects in Ocean and Burlington County and are outreaching to other Southern Jersey communities to help them address their affordable housing requirements.”

Allies Inc. comprises dedicated professionals experienced in service delivery for people with disabilities. They rely on people with disabilities and their family members to help make up their advisory board, which keeps them on the inside track of what it entails to have a disability or have a family member with a disability. The Advisory Board remains steadfast in ensuring that they offer only the cutting edge in services and delivery; considering only what is best centered on the individual and their family.

To volunteer, you can call their main office at 609-689-0136 or email volunteer@alliesnj.org. They will work to match the volunteer with the right opportunity. They have had groups volunteer in many ways, including adopting homes for birthdays and special events, painting, youth groups volunteering weekly or for a special event, assisting in developing gardening skills, tutoring in life skills, being a big brother of sister, a chess partner, pet therapy--you name it and they can use your talents. They also accept donations of goods. Many individuals may need a start-up for their first apartment on their own as well as financial contributions that help Allies Inc. provide the best services possible.

The Greensleeves Boutique is a going green initiative established in 2010 to provide gently worn clothing, vintage and fabulous finds to the public, while providing on-site job training and education to individuals with disabilities.

Participants in the program experience the gratification of working in teams to develop innovative ideas to creatively address some of society’s biggest challenges while developing an understanding of Environmental Sustainability. Participants may also choose to work independently with the assistance of our on-site trained employee specialists. The outcome of these combined efforts has resulted in a charming green boutique.
