Cameron Humphreys
Mount Laurel
Humphreys (pictured), an 11-year-old from Springville Elementary School, participated in the American Cancer Society’s annual Bike-A-Thon, where he rode his bike for 101 miles. Humphreys first rode in the Bike-a-thon in 2011, following the death of his grandfather, who lost his battle with lung cancer. This time, he rode in the nine-hour Bike-a-thon for his grandmother, diagnosed with cancer this year, and his Springville Elementary friend, who has been diagnosed with leukemia.

Jamie Rahn
Cherry Hill
Rahn, owner of Pinnacle Parkour Academy in Cherry Hill, was one of the finalists in the hit NBC show American Ninja Warrior. The 25-year-old Rahn, who was dubbed “Captain NBC” by fans, made it to the first of three stages in the athletic competition, beating out hundreds of other competitors and earning a national reputation for his highlighter yellow hair.

Shayna Simon
Medford
Katz JCC camper Simon, 13, walked away from the Katz JCC Maccabi Games with a handful of awards. The Mount Laurel native was a Team South Jersey delegate for the international games, and also swam in the special needs events at the games. Ultimately, Simon was awarded three medals and competed in seven non-competitive events.

Briana Gess
Haddonfield
Gess, who has been the state’s No. 1 distance runner since winning the Meet of Champions and Group II state championship last year as a freshman, got her sophomore season off to a sensational start. She took home first place in the girls’ Championship Division Race at the Briarwood Invitational on Sept. 13. Her unofficial time was 18:40, blowing her competition out of the water by 48 seconds. This big victory helped Haddonfield place fifth overall in the team standings with 99 points.

Ryan Blythe
Shamong
Blythe, a former Seneca High School football player, was named to the USA Rugby Men’s Collegiate All-American first team. Blythe, a forward, was among 26 players honored at his position and ­received a commemorative certificate to mark the accomplishment. He has been a starter for the West Virginia University rugby team for four years, and is the first Rugby Collegiate All-American for the university.
