Side Dish: March 2015 …From the pages of South Jersey Magazine…

Quick Bite: Chicken Francese (pictured)

Maggiano's Little Italy
Cherry Hill
Juicy, Parmesan-crusted chicken breasts get lightly sauteed and tossed in a rich lemon butter sauce, served along with a fresh lemon wedge for some extra acidity. Pair that with a gently tossed salad and crispy red potatoes and you've got a delightful mix of light and rich flavors, with a portion big enough to fill the hungriest diner.

Key Ingredient: Cauliflower
If you’re like us, you’re craving some local and seasonal produce to beat the winter blues. And while spring is still in the distance, there are still some crops growing near you, like cauliflower, an ingredient that has seen a resurgence in fine dining. Check out what these local restaurants are doing with cauliflower to help warm up your winter.

Gulpea Chalow with cauliflower and lamb
Ariana, Voorhees

Roasted Vegetable and Whole Grain Spaghettini with cauliflower, asparagus and Feta cheese
Brio Tuscan Grill, Marlton

Amelia’s Harvest Cous Cous with potatoes, broccoli and cauliflower
The Apron, Haddonfield

Lunch Under $15: Voorhees Town Center
Voorhees Town Center—formerly known to many as the Echelon Mall—has undergone a major reinvention, quickly becoming one of the area’s hottest spots for fine dining. But you’d be pleasantly surprised by the versatility of their midday menus, with lunches that won’t break the bank but burst with flavor.

Saus-ational Pizza
A white, personal pie gets topped with Italian sausage, broccoli rabe, garlic and provolone cheese before being tossed in their custom wood-fired oven and cooked until crispy. $14 at Catelli Duo

Oktoberfest Egg Rolls
Iron Hill’s newest location is serving up the fan favorites like these unforgettable egg rolls. They’re packed with Bratwurst, sauerkraut and both Cheddar and Monterey Jack cheeses and fried until crispy, served piping hot. $11.50 at Iron Hill Brewery & Restaurant

Jumbo Lump Crab Cake
Wu’s meaty crab cake gets cooked and served alongside a bright sweet corn relish. And, like all lunch dishes, this plate comes complete with soup or a side salad to start. $14 at Elena Wu Restaurant & Sushi Bar

Black and Blue Sliders
Four mini burgers come with bacon, lettuce, tomato and a creamy bleu cheese sauce. We suggest adding on one of Burger 21’s unforgettable milk shakes while you’re at it. $9.49 at Burger 21

Fast Food

Collingswood’s former Stella’s Pizza location has reopened as Oasis Mexican Grill, an authentic Mexican eatery. Stella’s has since reopened across the street at the former Little Louie’s BBQ.

Vincent’s Homemade Ice Cream in Mount Holly has moved from their current location to 54 High Street.

Magnolia has a new brewery in Lunacy Brewing Company. The spot, located just minutes from Somerdale’s Flying Fish Brewery, opened at the start of February.

Fast-casual spot Honeygrow is preparing to open its fourth location—and second New Jersey spot, behind Hoboken—in Cherry Hill’s Ellisburg Circle this spring. The healthy eatery focuses on seasonal and farm-to-fork salads, smoothies and stir fries.

Also coming soon to Cherry Hill is Eat.Pizza, a wood fired pizzeria and BYOB on Route 70 that gives guests the option to build their own pizzas and salads.

Keep your eye out for a new pizza chain coming to Marlton—the first of its kind in New Jersey. MOD–or Made on Demand—Pizza, a West Coast-based chain, recently announced plans to expand into the state, but has not provided a set opening date.
