On the Loose - Bear Alert

Some surprise guests have garnered the attention of residents in two Mercer County towns. A black bear and two of her cubs wandered through neighborhoods in Hopewell and Ewing townships yesterday. They ate from residents` garbage cans and drank from the Delaware River.

The bears didn`t approach any people and caused no serious damage. But officials at one Ewing school wouldn`t let students take the bus home after the bears were seen in the area. Administrators at the Lore Elementary School instead had relatives to pick up the children.
