SJ Fugitive Back in Prison

by 6 ABC - Action News | May 19, 2001
SJ Fugitive Back in Prison It`s Jailhouse Rock for an escaped murderer who spent 27 years on the lam as a doo-wop singer. A suntanned Elmer Solly apologized as police escorted him into Trenton State Prison today.

Investigators say Solly`s family gave him up after keeping his whereabouts secret to protect his mother since 1974. That`s when Solly slipped his escort for what was supposed to be a death-bed visit.

She died last year.

Authorities say when the 55-year-old was captured last week, he was posing as "Danny C. Catalano" in St. Petersburg, Florida. On his Web site, Danny C. falsely claimed to be "the most controversial member" of the group Sha Na Na.

Before heading to Florida, Solly had actually been arrested by Philadelphia police in 1975, using the name Christopher McManus and a Northeast Philadelphia address.

Solly was serving time for murdering his girlfriend`s two-year-old son.
