Following recent incidents involving autonomous vehicle technologies, a new report from AAA indicates consumer trust in these vehicles has slipped. Seventy-three percent of American drivers report they would be too afraid to ride in a fully self-driving vehicle, compared to 63 percent in late 2017.
New Jersey ranks 23rd in overall senior health, dropping three spots since 2017 according to the 2018 United Health Foundation’s America’s Health Rankings Senior Report. The state also ranks 12th for the health of women and children.
Gloucester Township Mayor David R. Mayer has been awarded honorable mention at the 2018 City Livability Awards Program during the U.S. Conference of Mayors’ 86th Annual Meeting in Boston. The award recognizes mayoral leadership in developing and implementing programs that improve the quality of life in America’s cities, focusing on the leadership, creativity and innovation demonstrated by the mayors.
The Casino Reinvestment Development Authority has approved more than $13 million for improvement projects at Boardwalk Hall and the Convention Center. The authority approved $9.1 million for renovations at the Atlantic City Convention Center and a combined $4 million for two projects at Boardwalk Hall.Article continues below

The Deborah Heart and Lung Center opened a three-story, 60,000-square-foot medical office in Pemberton Township that will be home to an urgent care clinic, X-rays, a family medicine office, an outpatient pharmacy and physical therapy center.
The Bariatric Surgery Center at Virtua Marlton recently earned national accreditation from the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP). Virtua is the only health system in South Jersey with two MBSAQIP-accredited bariatric centers: Virtua Memorial in Mount Holly and Virtua Marlton. Accreditation demonstrates Virtua’s program meets the highest national standards for safety, quality and comprehensive bariatric care.
American Heritage Credit Union was named as the top credit union in Pennsylvania in a recent study by Forbes and the market research firm Statista. Forbes’ America's Best-In-State Banks and Credit Unions publication was chosen based on an independent survey from a vast sample of more than 25,000 U.S. citizens spread among all states.
Cooper University Health Care recently opened a new 5,500-square-foot addition to its emergency department featuring 10 state-of-the-art exam rooms that will improve the patient experience and reduce wait times.
ShopRite stores raised $15,371 during the month of May through the Ravitz Family Market Cares Committee for Special Olympics New Jersey. Participating ShopRite stores include the ShopRite of Marlton; ShopRite of Evesham Road; ShopRite of Garden State Pavilion; ShopRite of Mt. Laurel, and the ShopRite of Union Mill Road.
Mattress Warehouse, AT&T and Cherry Blow Dry Bar will occupy 8,000 square feet at the corner of Marter Avenue and Route 38 in Mount Laurel.
Effective this month, a majority of American Asphalt Company’s stock has been acquired by its employees through an Employee Stock Ownership Program—the first paving company to do so in New Jersey.
