Phils Unveil New Stadium The Philadelphia Phillies debuted a scale model of their new stadium today, revealing an intimate, nostalgic design that includes a grass-and-dirt field and a commanding view of the city skyline.

The 43-thousand-seat, baseball-only stadium will be built on a parking lot across from Veterans Stadium and is expected to be finished in time for the 2004 season.

Team executives, Mayor John Street and other government officials gathered in an air conditioned tent today on the stadium`s future site to unveil the model and a video featuring animated views of the new park.

The stadium features a playing field 23 feet below street level, seats angled toward home plate, and an outfield entertainment area.
