Officials Believe Separate Shootings Connected GLOUCESTER COUNTY, N.J.: July 9, 2001 — A double shooting in South Jersey has left one man dead and another clinging to life.

The shootings happened in two separate locations – in Washington and Monroe Townships – but Gloucester County authorities believe they are linked. The first occurred along Hurfville-Cross Keys Road in Washington Township. A man was shot there and rushed to Cooper Medical Center`s trauma unit in very critical condition.

A short time later, a man was found shot to death a short distance away, near a construction site along Pitman-Downer Road in Monroe Township.

Sources tell Action News the shootings may be linked to a pending court case involving a politically connected Gloucester County manager. We will update this story as more information becomes available.
