Headline News Philadelphia police are investigating a shootout last night that was broken up by an officer who shot and wounded one man.

Officers say they found a Tech-9 submachine gun and 22 shell casings after the incident. The victim, a man in his 30s, is being treated at Temple University Hospital for multiple gunshot wounds.

Police say they stumbled onto the shootout around 2am outside the Latin Flavor bar on the 3300 block of 2nd Street.

The officer who wounded the man is from the 25th District. He told his superiors that he opened fire because he was being fire upon.

At least 1 other person is wanted in connection with the shootout. That person fled the scene as soon as police arrived.

While police investigators try to figure just who was in the shootout and why, the Philadelphia Police Internal Affairs division is investigating the shots fired by the police officer.
