First shut out at home for the Riversharks CAMDEN, NJ— The Camden Riversharks shut out the Atlantic City Surf 5-0 tonight in front of 5,119 fans at Campbell`s Field. The win snaps the Riversharks` three-game losing streak and evens the series at one game apiece entering the final game of the three-game series with the Surf tomorrow. Tonight`s shut out is the second one of the season for the Riversharks. The first is courtesy of Chris Roberts, where the Riversharks shut out the Atlantic City Surf at the Sandcastle on May 5. Camden starter Lincoln Mikkelson picked up the win improving his record to 1-4 for the season. In the top of the eighth with two outs, Mikkelson turned the ball over to closer Jimmy “Slim” Williams to put the Surf away. The Surf could manage only five hits in the game, four off of Mikkelson and one off Williams. Ariel Garcia took the loss for Atlantic City allowing three runs on ten hits, five strikeouts and one walk in six and one-third innings.

Eight out of the nine Camden starters had at least one hit in the game tonight. Third baseman Brad Strauss led the 12-hit attack going 3-for-5 and one run scored. Strauss has now hit safely in five straight games. Designated hitter Nelson Abreu hit his first home run of the season, a two-run shot in the bottom of the eighth inning to finish the night 1-for-4 with two runs batted in and one run scored. Darrell Nicholas (1-for-4) extended his hitting streak to eight games with Camden.

The Camden Riversharks conclude the three-games series against the Atlantic City Surf tomorrow at 6:35 p.m. at Campbell`s Field.
