Patriots Beat Surf In 10 ATLANTIC CITY- The Surf fell to the Somerset Patriots by a score of 5-4 in ten innings Thursday evening at the Sandcastle.

The Surf had a 3-1 going into the ninth but allowed a leadoff hit to Michael Warner who eventually scored on a hit by DaRon Stovall.

Stovall then scored on a hit by Kevin Dattola to tie the game at 3. The Surf were unable to score in the bottom half of the ninth, sending the game to extra innings. The Patriots then scored 2 runs in the tenth to take a 5-3 lead. After two quick outs by the Surf in the bottom half of the inning, Emison Soto homered, cutting the margin to one run. The next batter, Will Pennyfeather, pooped out to Pablo Martinez to end the ball game. Derek Dace was the winning pitcher for Somerset improving to 7-3.

Criag Mattson was the loser, falling to 2-3. Somerset has clinched the Southern Division title for the second half with the victory.

The Surf will go on the road and will return home on Wednesday, September 12 to play Lehigh Valley at 6:35pm...
