Rabbi`s Lawyers Seek Another Change of Venue

Rabbi`s Lawyers Seek Another Change of Venue CAMDEN, N.J.: Lawyers for a Cherry Hill rabbi accused of arranging his wife's murder have again asked for a change of venue. The motion, filed Tuesday by Jeffrey C. Zucker and Dennis Wixted, cited what they called a "strong sentiment" of prejudice among potential jurors that Fred J. Neulander was guilty. Authorities claim Neulander, 60, arranged to have his wife killed so he could continue an affair with Elaine Soncini, a Philadelphia radio talk-show host.

It was unclear when Superior Court Judge Linda G. Baxter would rule on the request, and Prosecutor James P. Lynch declined to comment on the motion. If approved, it would likely delay the trial, which is now scheduled to start Oct. 15.

The motion comes five weeks into jury selection. So far, 48 Camden County residents have been chosen for the 60-member jury pool, and 12 jurors and four alternates will eventually be chosen to hear the case.
