Postal Worker Released From Hospital

Postal Worker Released From Hospital MOUNT HOLLY, N.J. A postal worker stricken with inhalation anthrax was released from the hospital Monday, saying it was her obligation as an American to tell people about her disease and recovery. Norma Wallace, of Willingboro, had been at Virtua Memorial Hospital since Oct. 19. The 56-year-old woman was hospitalized with pneumonia-like symptoms; she found out days later she had anthrax.

Wallace works at the Hamilton post office where three anthrax-tainted letters sent to Washington and New York were processed.

She was on intravenous antibiotics until two days ago, when she switched to pills.

There have been five confirmed cases of skin or inhalation anthrax in New Jersey, and two suspected cases. Officials said Monday that all can be traced to the Hamilton facility.
