Damon Moore Pleads Guilty

Moore appeared in court to plead guilty to a civil charge of animal cruelty for leaving his pet Rotweiler puppy at the Voorhees field. For the plea, Moore received a $2,000 fine, must serve 15 days of community service, and was ordered to pay restitution to the animal shelter that took care of the dog before it was adopted.
Moore is also banned from owning a pet for five years.
"I made a very bad judgment," Moore said after the sentencing. "I was stupid, on the choice of my behalf. I'm not a harmful person. Like I said, I made a very bad judgment and I learned from it."
Municipal Court Judge John Norelli reprimanded Moore, calling his actions "stupid."
Police found the dog and the Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals traced a microchip embedded in it to a pet shop in the Echelon Mall, where Moore made his purchase.
