McKie To Miss Two Games

McKie To Miss Two Games Philadelphia 76ers guard Aaron McKie will miss the next two games versus Memphis and Sacramento after undergoing a procedure to restore normal heart rhythm. After playing 18 first-half minutes on Dec. 1st versus Chicago, McKie left the game and did not return due to shortness of breath, lightheadedness and dizziness.

Examination by Dr. Jeffrey Weinberg of the Chicago Bulls revealed that McKie's heart was in atrial fibrillation, a condition in which the heartbeat is out of rhythm.

Upon return to Philadelphia, Dr. Fred Bove, the 76ers team cardiologist, examined McKie and performed the procedure.

"Mr. McKie underwent an uneventful cardioversion at Temple University Hospital on Dec. 2 to restore normal heart rhythm," Bove said. "If he remains in normal rhythm, he will be cleared to play after Dec. 4th."

McKie will see Bove on Tuesday for follow-up, and is expected to rejoin the team in California for the 76ers' Dec. 5th contest with Golden State.
