Two Arrested After Deadly Fight

The fight broke out between 9 and 10 Friday night, at Aldelphia's Restaurant on Clemens Bridge Road in Deptford.
Prosecutors say the fight started as an altercation between employees and patrons. The fight moved outside and investigators say a rock was thrown into a window. Club owner John Balis stepped outside to break up the fight.
Police arrested two men. Thirty-nine-year-old Charles Craven of Runnemede. He has been charged with 2nd degree aggravated assault. Also arrested was 39-year Anthony Maccariella of Williamstown, charged with disorderly conduct.
Friends say that John Balis was a Greek immigrant who worked his way up from a job as a dishwasher to owner of three local dining establishments. He was devoted member of the St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill.
He leaves behind a wife and two children.
