Senators Shut Down Flyers
Philadelphia's Jeremy Roenick reached 1,000 career points with a first-period goal, his 17th goal and 53rd point of the season. He has 425 goals and 575 assists in 961 career games.
"It would have been nicer if we had won, but I feel very proud of it. No question," Roenick said. "There are some great hockey players who have done it."
The Flyers are 10-2-1-1 in their last 14 games.
"I didn't think we were as sharp as we need to be to win," Philadelphia coach Bill Barber said.
Chara tied it at 7:34 of the third. With Ruslan Fedotenko off for hooking, Chara camped out in front of goalie Brian Boucher and banged Daniel Alfredsson's rebound past the goalie.
"We just kept working and got that first goal by Big Z on the power play," Ottawa defenseman Wade Redden said.
Hossa took a pass from Radek Bonk and beat Boucher at 16:21, and Hossa then assisted on White's empty-netter at 19:02.
Roenick opened the scoring with 2:08 left in the first period. Simon Gagne left the penalty box after serving a high-sticking penalty and fed Roenick across the crease. Roenick beat Lalime for the Philadelphia forward's 17th goal of the season.
Notes: Ottawa right wing Martin Havlat left the game in the third period with a groin injury. He will miss the NHL's YoungStars Game on Friday night in Los Angeles, with Senators center Mike Fisher taking his spot in the exhibition game. "For sure, I'm disappointed because I was excited about going," Havlat said. "It's just hard luck. I'll have to try again next year." ...
