Late Night Fire Takes Lives

by 6 ABC-AP | Apr 30, 2002
Late Night Fire Takes Lives Two young boys were killed when a fast-moving fire gutted their home, but their mother and younger brother were able to escape the flames. Authorities said the fire broke out around 10:15 p.m. Monday at the Florence Township home. The unidentified boys, ages 8 and 10, apparently were trapped on the second floor, authorities said.

The woman tried to rescue her sons but was unable to due to the strong heat and smoke. She and her 4-year-old son were treated for minor injuries.

Two nearby homes sustained water and smoke damage, but no other injuries were reported. The cause of the fire has not been determined.
