Fire Destroys Maple Shade Apts. Investigators are trying to figure out what sparked a blaze that broke out at the Fox Meadow apartments Monday night, where as many as half a dozen units were fully engulfed in flames. About 3 dozen people are out of their homes. Nobody was hurt during the fire.

Six of the homes were destroyed by flames, another 4 suffered water damage, and power had to be cut off to another 4 homes. Firefighters found a mattress burning in the doorway of one apartment and think that's where the fire started. Investigators are trying to figure out exactly what sparked the blaze.

The fire was first reported at about 10:15 and quickly grew with heavy smoke and flames pouring from the garden-style apartments.

A structural inspection of the building is also planned for Tuesday to determine if the building can be repaired or will need ot be demolished.
