Miss America Host Selected

by 6 ABC-AP | Aug 3, 2002
Miss America Host Selected Will Wayne Brady do improv with beauty queens? Maybe. Brady's been chosen to host this year's "Miss America Pageant." He's known, of course, for "Whose Line is It, Anyway?" Brady's the first African-American to host the pageant since it started 81 years ago.

He says his selection as host is "a defining moment." But, he says wasn't cast for his color. Brady says he was asked because he brings – what he calls – "a youthful energy to the proceedings." He says it's great that he's the first African-American host but "let's move on."

The Miss America pageant's September 21st on 6ABC. That's just a few weeks after Brady's daytime variety show debuts – also on 6ABC.
