Drought Restrictions Reinstated

by 6 ABC-AP | Aug 21, 2002
Drought Restrictions Reinstated Officials will tighten the water tap when New Jersey Environmental Protection officials issue stricter drought rules today.

The DEP is not saying what the revisions will be. But a spokeswoman says lawn watering, car washing and conservation are among the possibilities.

The state relaxed water restrictions in June, allowing odd-even lawn watering and car washing after conservation efforts appeared to work.

However, the state received a little more than an inch and a half of rain in July compared to four and a half inches. Until this morning's showers, there was only eight-tenths in August.
