Gov. Gives Salem More Money On Friday, Governor James E. McGreevey announced funding of $1.4 million dollars to Salem County for improvements to its wastewater treatment system.

These funds are in addition to $600,000 released by the Treasury Department on July 11th for two Salem County wastewater treatment projects: $400,000 for Carney’s Point and $250,000 for the Quinton Township treatment facility.

“The State is committed to provide for a safe and efficient wastewater system in Salem County,” McGreevey said. “As I publicly committed at Salem Community College, the State today will fund $1.4 million to Salem County as a first step toward improving the wastewater system. Salem County is a priority for our Administration, and I am personally committed to ensuring that Salem County receives the required funding from the State.”

The Governor has also instructed the Department of Environmental Protection to work closely with Salem County to expedite the process and to identify other resources to assist in wastewater treatment efforts.
