Police Capture Cop Shooter

Police said that during his arrest, Wyatt assaulted a housing authority police officer.
For more than a month, Wyatt eluded police in New Jersey and in Pennsylvania. He is charged with the Aug. 12 shooting of Deptford Township police Sgt. Steven Kumer.
Police said that in August, Wyatt fled the scene of a traffic stop and was pursued by Kumer. During a struggle, Wyatt took Kumer's gun and shot him, grazing the officer's left ear.
Kumer was able to hit Wyatt's hand before he pulled the trigger, an act that probably saved his life.
Wyatt was later spotted in Chester, Pa., where he escaped for a second time.
Police called authorities in Boston because they knew that Wyatt had relatives in the area. Boston police called Tuesday night to say that they had Wyatt in custody.
"Lamar Wyatt was apprehended last night in Boston as the result of charges arising from drug possession, resisting arrest in Boston," said Gloucester County prosecutor Sean Dalton.
Wyatt faces seven charges in New Jersey, two charges in Pennsylvania and at least three charges in Massachusetts. If he is convicted of the seven charges in New Jersey, he faces up to 70 years in jail.
Kumer has not yet returned to the police force.
