Man Arrested At Airport A Bulgarian national was arrested Sunday at Atlantic City International Airport with boxcutters and scissors in his backpack.

Federal screeners found them after the backpack when through an X-ray machine.

Officials said that a search of the backpack turned up a pair of scissors embedded in a bar of soap, and two boxcutters hidden in a lotion bottle.

The 21-year-old man, identified as Nikolay Volodicv Dzhonev, told authorities he packed the items that way to keep them from damaging anything in his backpack. He is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon.

A Transportation Security Administration spokesman said that man arrived at the airport at 4:45 a.m. Sunday morning, and he was the first passenger to check in.

But he was the last passenger to pass through the airport's security checkpoint for the 8 a.m. Spirit Airlines flight to Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Authorities said that Dzhonev is a student with a visa letting him work at an Atlantic City-area convenience store for the summer.

Egg Harbor Township police have him in custody.
