Two Face Death Penalty

by NBC10/AP | Oct 17, 2002
Two Face Death Penalty Prosecutors in New Jersey will seek the death penalty for two men accused in the abduction and slaying of a Philadelphia-area commuter last year.

Camden County authorities formally announced their intent during a brief hearing Wednesday for Ryshaone Thomas and Marcus Toliver.

The Camden men face several counts, including capital murder, kidnapping, robbery and weapon offenses.

The two men are charged in the November 12, 2001 slaying of Christine Eberle.

Prosecutors say the 27-year-old Washington Township woman was heading home from her job in Philadelphia when the two men grabbed her as she walked across the parking lot at PATCO's Ferry Avenue train station.

Eberle's body was found the next day in a wooded area. Authorities say she was beaten and strangled.

Prosecutors say the trial for the two men will likely be held late next year.
