Ice Cream Woes

Facing higher ingredient costs, some ice cream makers have quietly reduced the half-gallon brick that has long been the standard.
Dreyer's and Schwan's are among those that have switched to one-and-three-fourths-quart cartons. Good Humor-Breyer's doesn't plan to shrink its containers, but did boost its half-gallon price by 30 cents.
Other major ice cream makers are sticking with the half-gallon for now. The International Ice Cream Association says 75 percent of all ice cream is sold by the half-gallon.
