Cherry Hill Buffet

How about a trip to Hong Kong for the holidays? All right, if that`s out of the question, consider visiting the Cherry Hill Buffet. My friend Nancy and I stopped in for lunch recently and found out that it`s much more affordable, and the food is just as authentic!

The restaurant, which just opened this past October, is clean and airy with three separate dining areas. Owner William Pun told us that his family owns several restaurants and his chef, who hails directly from Hong Kong, has 20 years of experience. After sampling the cuisine, we tasted the difference that this makes.

The buffet begins with an extensive salad bar, including beautifully prepared sweet peppers and onions, spicy napa, even crab meat salad. There are also several different soups, fried rice and crispy appetizers from which to choose.

We were quite surprised at the unusual variety of entrees on the buffet. As a self-proclaimed Chinese food expert, Nancy pointed out that Chow Fun, Scallion Pan Cakes, Chinese Jade and New Zealand Mussels were not dishes normally found at buffets. We also sampled (and loved!) Squid with Curry Sauce, Coconut Chicken and Eggplant with Garlic Sauce. The chef also did an excellent job with such standard fare as Pork with Mushrooms and General Tso`s Chicken.

Even desserts go the extra mile here. We enjoyed fresh fruits, fried pineapple, cookies, brownies and an incredible black bean cake, which was homemade.

Monday through Friday the lunch buffet costs just $5.99 and $3.99 for kids under 12 while the Saturday brunch is $6.99, $4.99 for kids. The dinner buffet Monday through Saturday is $9.99 and $5.99 for kids. On Sundays and holidays, the buffet costs $9.99 and $5.99 for kids. Children under 2 are always free. As part of an ongoing Grand Opening Special, guests can take advantage of the 15% discount being offered on the regular prices.

Cherry Hill Buffet also has a full menu, and takeout is available. Parties up to 200 can be accommodated.
