School Bus Driver Gets Prison Time

by NBC10/AP | Feb 23, 2003
School Bus Driver Gets Prison Time A former school bus driver who had sex with a 13-year-old student has been sentenced to eight years in prison.

Rodolfo Perez of Hammonton pleaded guilty in September to performing a sex act on the girl and providing alcohol to a 14-year-old girl.

Both girls were seventh-graders at Hammonton Middle School.

In court on Friday, the 47-year-old Perez told Superior Court Judge William Cook he had learned his lesson.

Assistant Camden County Prosecutor Donna Spinosi said the victim and her parents supported the plea agreement.

Perez must register as a sex offender under Megan's Law.

Defense attorney Anne McElearney says Perez's 18-year marriage ended as a result of the criminal charges and his adult children won't speak to him.
