Be sure to bring a healthy appetite to Joy Palace Buffet, where the phrase "all you can eat" is certainly no joke!

This fine restaurant, located at 1401-1405 Blackwood-Clementon Road, Clementon, features one of the largest and most varied buffets I have ever seen. Their unique combination of Chinese and American favorites offers something for everyone.

During a recent visit, I was impressed by the friendly family environment and cheerful decor. Kids will be especially entranced by the large wishing-fountain and pool. (It actually has dollar bills in it!) Don`t despair, though - your dollars will be well spent at Joy Palace, which is reasonably priced at $5.29 for lunch, $8.99 for dinner and $5.99 for kids under 11. (Lunch is $3.49 for kids).

I opted for the dinner buffet, which is almost overwhelming in its variety. I was pleasantly surprised to find a salad bar, which includes crisp, fresh lettuce, vegetables and a choice of tasty dressings. I then moved on to the appetizers, of which I sampled the scallion pancakes, which were light, flaky and delicious; and the vegetable egg roll, which was crisp and filled with a great veggie combination.

I of course tried the fried rice and found it to be well-seasoned and cooked just right. I then progressed to the Lo Mein, which is always one of my favorites. It was tender and well-cooked, with a variety of flavorful vegetables. I finished with a dessert of chocolate/vanilla twist ice cream - the perfect end to any meal.

Although this more than satisfied my puny appetite, it`s but a fraction of what was offered. The buffet also includes Snow Crab Legs, Chicken Teriyaki, Fried Dumplings, General Tso`s Chicken, Spare Ribs, Beef with Broccoli and much more. There was an impressive dessert table, complete with brownies, ice cream, carrot cake and fresh fruit. (Desserts and beverages are included in the buffet price.)

Joy Palace also has a menu with individually priced items, and they offer a take-out buffet, priced at $2.99/lb for lunch, $3.69/lb for dinner and $6.99/lb for shrimp or snow crab legs. Private party rooms are available with a reservation.
