Light Wings Restaurant

Are you looking for a place to take the family for an afternoon that won`t cost you a day`s pay? Are you an aviation buff or someone who likes to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life? If so, why not stop by Light Wings Restaurant at South Jersey Regional Airport in rural Lumberton? While you`re there, you can enjoy a relaxed, reasonably priced meal and visit the adjacent Air Victory Museum. (There you can see a collection of military aircraft that date back to Vietnam and World War II.)

Light Wings Restaurant is a clean, cozy place that`s owned and operated by decorated Vietnam veteran Chick Kenny, and its walls and ceiling are adorned with both military and aviation memorabilia. It`s an unpretentious, friendly place that anyone would be comfortable in.

Light Wings is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week and for dinner on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday. Among other selections, their breakfast menu features such traditional favorites as breakfast sandwiches ($2.95 and $4.95), cooked-to-order eggs, pancakes, omelets, home fries, toast, juice, coffee, tea and more. Considering that I stopped in at noontime, I selected an item from Light Wings` extensive lunch menu: Turkey Breast Club Sandwich ($5.25).

It was packed with turkey, lettuce, tomatoes, crispy bacon and mayonnaise. Other lunch menu items are hoagies; hot sandwiches, such as Philly cheese steak ($5.50) and chicken cheese steak ($6.55); and cold sandwiches, such as Light Wings` Special Turkey ($5.50), which comes with turkey breast, provolone, asparagus, roasted red peppers and honey mustard on a kaiser roll. There are also platters like chicken salad ($3.95) and tuna salad ($3.75). On a diet? How about a garden salad ($3.25), chef`s salad ($5.25) or shrimp salad ($5.95)?
