Old Town Buffet

When my friend Mindy and I stopped in Old Town Buffet for lunch recently, we were overwhelmed for a moment. The diversity and abundance of food was so great that we weren`t sure what to eat first!

Almost a year old now, this sparkling clean, big, bright and airy restaurant has something for everyone to enjoy. Food, glorious food...you can`t go wrong here.

Ever faithful to her diet, Mindy headed straight for the salad bar. Aside from the bins piled high with a variety of fresh lettuce and vegetables, there were cold cuts and cheeses, mussels, crabmeat salad, chicken salad, Caesar salad, potato salad and more.

I tried the Mongolian Barbecue, which is also great for calorie-counters. Here you can choose your own meats, chicken or shrimp, fresh veggies, noodles and sauces and hand them over to the chef, who stir-fries them into a healthy and delicious tasting creation.

If that weren`t enough, there are also three hot food stations to choose from. Keep in mind that Old Town is an international buffet, so many different cultures are represented. We sampled Singapore Pork Chops, beef stew, Curry Chicken, lasagna, spare ribs, hot dogs with sauerkraut, shrimp, vegetables and many other side dishes. Our kids weren`t with us that day, but had they been, they would`ve been in heaven. Pizza, chicken nuggets, french fries, onion rings - you name it, it was on the buffet. Of course, these delights aren`t just for the kids; we were glad to indulge!

As for dessert, the selection here was also large and featured many different fresh fruits, puddings, soft ice cream and pastries. By the way, don`t miss the chocolate eclairs ...we didn`t!

Manager Victor Lee stopped by our table and told us that Old Town also includes specials on the buffet, such as New Zealand Lamb Chops, Beef Wellington, Filet Mignon or Salmon on Friday and Saturday evenings.

Lunch prices are $6.50 for adults and $3.75 for children Mon. to Fri.; dinner is $10.95 for adults and $5.95 for children Mon. to Thurs. and $12.95 for adults and $6.95 for children Fri. to Sun.; Brunch is $9.45 for adults and $5.95 for children Sat. and Sun. On and off-site catering are available, and all major credit cards are accepted.
