Tony`s Pizza & Restaurant

In today`s fast-paced society, it`s nice to know that there are still restaurants who put the time and dedication into preparing homemade meals.

Such is the case with Tony`s Pizza & Deli. My mother and I had the pleasure of dining there recently and we found that the eatery takes great pride in its food and in its quick and friendly service.

We both started with a cup of homemade chicken soup ($1.75 for a small/ $2.75 for the large). Loaded with chunks of chicken, noodles and carrots, it was the perfect choice for a cold winter day. The restaurant features a different soup daily, but they are all homemade.

Next, I had a Chicken Parmesan sandwich ($4.50) with a side of fries while my mom chose Tony`s Special Turkey Club ($5.50). My chicken was breaded with the restaurant`s secret blend of seasonings and topped with homemade sauce and a generous amount of piping hot cheese. My mom`s sandwich consisted of tender turkey piled on a fresh roll and topped with bacon, lettuce and tomato. I can say that quality was not sacrificed for quantity here. The portions were large and the ingredients were fresh and tasty.

I also noticed that the menu at Tony`s is large enough to satisfy even picky eaters. Customers can choose from a variety of appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, burgers, pizza and dinner entrees. Favorite sandwich selections include Eggplant Parmesan, Grilled Chicken and Roast Beef & Swiss Cheese. Numerous steak sandwiches, such as Steak Hoagie and Chicken Steak Hoagie, are also available.

For dinner, Tony`s offers several pasta dishes and homemade specialties. Choices include Ravioli, Baked Ziti and Baked Eggplant Parmigiana. Specialty pizza choices include: Chicken Paradise and Capri (mozzarella topped with fresh tomato, broccoli, mushrooms, olive oil, garlic and spices).

The family owned and operated restaurant is currently in the process of undergoing a facelift. Doug and Beverly Herberg, the new owners, are planning to separate the existing deli so they can concentrate on what they do best - preparing homemade Italian specialties in a family-oriented atmosphere. Takeout is available and a delivery service will soon be added.
