The Original Italian Affair

Looking for great Italian food? Then look no farther than The Original Italian Affair, located in the Double Tree Shopping Plaza on Delsea Drive in Glassboro.

On a recent afternoon, I stopped by for lunch. Unlike many other eateries, The Original Italian Affair`s prices are the same for lunch and dinner. (In other words, a dish that costs $6.95 at noon doesn`t rocket up to $14.95 at 6 p.m.!) Although the menu was huge, I somehow managed to choose the eggplant parmigiana ($9.25), which comes with a choice of spaghetti, ziti or linguini; garlic bread (with real chunks of garlic); and either salad or the soup of the day. I picked the linguini (which was homemade and delicious) and the salad (which came with a house dressing and some of the greenest romaine lettuce I`ve ever seen).

After devouring the salad and bread, the main course was brought out pronto by Erin, my exceptionally pleasant and attentive wai-tress. (Although the menu asks you to please be patient while your food is prepared to order, I must say that I got my meal pretty darn quick.) The eggplant parmigiana was delicious, with a wonderful tomato sauce covering lightly breaded eggplant.

I topped off the meal with a small dish of Gino`s homemade cappuccino gelato ($1.25) and a coffee ($.85). Being the professional that she is, Erin didn`t even laugh when I asked what gelato was. (It`s ice cream, for those of you just as clueless as me.)

The restaurant is tastefully decorated with hanging plants, stucco walls and spotless Mediterranean-style tiled floors. The menu features appetizers like fried zucchini ($4.50) as well as specialties such as Twin Lobster Tail Scampi ($18.95).

The Original Italian Affair also has an extensive selection of hot and cold sand-wiches, from shrimp parmi-giana subs ($6.50) to chick-en cheesesteak ($5.95). There`s also a full pizza menu that in-cludes traditional pies with all the toppings, as well as white and personal pizzas.
