Pasta Pomodoro
When my dining companion Colleen and I arrived for lunch, our hostess greeted us immediately and led us to a comfortable booth. The neoclassic Italian decor, featuring marbleized columns and tapestry prints, felt elegant and was nicely balanced by soft colors and relaxing music playing in the background.
Our waitress appeared with fresh Italian rolls and tomato bread and told us about the daily lunch specials. The extensive menu features salads, chicken, veal, seafood, and of course, pasta! There is also a sandwich menu which includes such selections as Chicken Caesar and Portobella Mushroom sandwiches (after 3 p.m., served as takeout only).
I started with the Antipasto Rustica appetizer ($6.95), an oversized dish brimming with flavorful meats, cheeses and vegetables. We shared Calamari Fritti ($6.95), lightly breaded, tender calamari that were so deliciously irresistible I couldn`t stop eating them! The Mussels and Clams Posillipo ($6.95 each) were also bursting with flavor.
Our entrees soon followed. I tried the Capellini Positano ($9.95 for lunch), a house specialty, with thin, delicate pasta tossed with large chunks of crab, fresh tomatoes, and just the right amount of garlic and herbs.
Colleen chose the Pasta Alla Vodka ($6.95 for lunch). She found the light, slightly tangy cream sauce to be outstanding, and after a taste, I had to agree.
After such large entrees, we didn`t think we`d have room for dessert, but once we saw the daily selection, it was impossible to resist! We sampled a rich, decadent fudge brownie ($4.50) - a chocoholic`s delight, and an exquisitely flavorful tiramisu ($4.50). Cappuccino, espresso and coffee are also offered.
Aside from daily specials, there are Early Bite Dinner Specials until 6:00 p.m. Mon. - Thurs., a children`s menu and a Healthy Heart menu. Pasta Pomodoro also offers on and off premises catering with a full banquet menu for any special occasion. Reservations are accepted for parties of six or more, and this is a non-smoking facility.
There is also another location in Eagle Plaza in Voorhees.
