Heroes Honored in South Jersey A fallen hero was honored in South Jersey this weekend. Mt. Ephraim's department of public works is dedicated to James Sylvester. He was killed last year fighting a fierce fire. The community turned out to honor his memory. Chief Sylvester died July 4th last year in a raging duplex fire in Gloucester City. He rushed in with other firefighters trying to save several children. Three children died in that fire along with Chief Sylvester, Deputy Chief John West, and firefighter Thomas Stewart.

It was a much happier scene in Camden County, last night. Pennsauken, New Jersey, as a crowd turned out to welcome home Sergeant James Riley. Sergeant Riley, riding in the parade route, waved to the crowd of well-wishers. Many saying they're glad he made it home alive. Sergeant Riley said he never expected anything like this. He was just doing what he had to do.

Riley: “Part of the job. We have people still in Afghanistan, Iraq, Bosnia and five other countries at least. We do this all the time, sir.” He's always maintained that should be our focus. Sergeant Riley was one of seven American P.O.W.s in Iraq rescued on Palm Sunday.
