NJ Schools Don`t Make the Grade In a Newsweek study ranking the country's best high schools, no schools that were eligible from the NBC 10 viewing area made the top 100 list of schools this year.

The study includes mostly public schools and excludes schools that select more than half their students by exams or other academic criteria, because they have fewer students who need a boost from advanced-placement tests.

The names of the top 100 schools were published in this week's magazine, and the full list of 737 schools is posted on Newsweek's Web site.

The top-ranked local schools include:

* Princeton, N.J. (rank: 103)
* Lower Merion, Pa. (rank: 115)
* Lower Moreland, Pa. (rank: 126)
* Mainland Regional, Linwood, N.J. (rank: 211)
* Conestoga, Berwyn, Pa. (rank: 254)

Newsweek ranked the schools by dividing the number of advanced-placement exams and international baccalaureate exams given at each school last year by the number of graduating seniors.

A.I. DuPont was the only school from Delaware on the list and is ranked 348th.
