Doctor Arrested For Fondling Patient

A south Jersey doctor has been accused of fondling a patient.

Dr. Michael C. Lafon, 42, was arrested after a woman complained he touched her in a sexual manner twice during her visits.

According to prosecutors, the incident happened at the doctor's office in Winona, N.J.

Prosecutors said that LaFon took a patient to the examining room and "used his mouth to touch her breasts." She said she then saw him pleasing himself after she left the examining room. The matter was referred to the county attorney's office.

Prosecutors said there were two incidents, one on April 4 and then when the woman went back for another appointment.

LaFon is free after posting $15,000 cash bail. The condition of his bail was that he is not allowed to have any unsupervised contact with female patients.

"We are very happy that she came forward. Something like this happening, the embarrassment it causes, we are just very fortunate that someone came forward, that she had the courage to come forward and make us aware of this so we can take further steps in order to hopefully ensure that this never happens again," said Sean Dalton, the Gloucester County prosecutor.

Prosecutors request that anybody else who had a similar experience with LaFon come forward and give them a call.

The doctor has been charged with sexual criminal contact and lewdness. The police are also contacting the New Jersey medical office to see if they can get the doctor's license revoked.
