SJ Schools: Notre Dame HS
Notre Dame students are famous for achieving several academic and athletic accomplishments. Congratulations to the following students for their outstanding performance during the 2002-2003 school year.
Cheers to the 17 Notre Dame students who received the third place award at the 2003 Rutgers Model Congress. Individual achievements were presented to Chris Bosley for the Outstanding Position Paper Award and Outstanding delegate recognition was given to Peter Thompson, Thomas John Yake, Megan French, George Hrico, Emily Leonard and Joseph Gigliotti.
Congratulations to new Freshman peer leaders Christina Falcone, Katy Aden, Daniel Verdel, Danielle Barus, Justin Chukumba, Paris Powe, John Curcio, Emily (Molly) Chrnelich, and Laura Hurley.
Congratulations to those appointed to the 2003-2004 student executive board: Megan Petersack, Alex Geremakis, Liz Waldron and Thomas Yake. These students were recognized as leaders and will serve as model students through their leadership and decision-making skills.
Congratulations to the juniors who have been invited to participate in the National Merit Scholarship program for 2003-2004. Gregory Bosley, Jonathan Curto, Caitlin Henner, Erich Hochreiter, Meaghen Petersack, Claire Pigula, Pamela Selvarajah, Christopher Shelley, Christopher Smith and Andrew Vynnytsky were among the 50,000 highest scoring participnats that took the PSAT in fall 2002.
Notre Dame’s fighting Irish earned several athletic achievements in 2002-2003 school year. Siena Malkin and Daniel Golazeski won CVC Sportsmanship Awards. Heather Yakupkovic and Ken Ellsworth were nominated for the Order of AHEPA Trenton Chapter #72. Lauren King and Bob Duffner were nominated for the First Thunder All Scholastic Athletic Team. Janey Quinn was nominated for the NJSIAA Scholar-Athlete Awards Program. Kristin Zabawa is the recipient of the Trenton Softball Hall of Fame Scholarship and the Chuck Giambelluca Scholarship Award. Congratulations also go to Amanda Capaci who will represent the United States in an international swimming competition in Australia.
Two Notre Dame juniors headed to California this summer to pursue a one in a lifetime opportunity. Katie Shrzek is taking a 4-week acting workshop at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles and Lindsay Mantella is taking part in the National Student Youth Forum on Medicine at the University of California Berkeley.
Locally, students Amanda Caputo and Sergio Martinez are spending time at the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine on the campus of Temple University in Philadelphia.
Casey O'Sullivan and Mirta Sanchez are headed to the nation’s capital. O’Sullivan is attending the National Student Leadership Conference on the campus of American University in Washington D.C and Sanchez is a part of the first Presidential Classroom National Security in a Democracy program.
Committed to philanthropy, juniors Joy Polignano, Christina Rice and Daniel Martin will be staff members of the American Red Cross Leadership Development Center located at Ursinus College. Martin is also attending the Global Pact Leadership Program sponsored by the ARC.
Seven Notre Dame High School performing arts students have been named to the Rutgers University Honors Band. Winners Tim Burns, Jon Curto, Jessica Clough, Sean Dempsey, Deanna Muro, Rachel Reither and Brent Smith were honored for their skill and natural music genius.
