SJ Schools: Maple Shade HS Maple Shade High School, home of the Wildcats, is ready to kick off their 2003-2004 school year. With an excellent curriculum and opportunities for athletics and co-curricular activities, students have a chance to shine brighter as they get closer to graduation.

Last year, Maple Shade students earned several achievements in addition to their academic curriculum. Congratulations to these students, and good luck in the upcoming school year.

Maple Shade’s football team is gearing up for a strong season in 2003. This summer, they attended the West Deptford Garden State Football Camp for the first time. The 3-day camp was also attended by other South Jersey high schools and pushed the players to the limit to improve their game. Team members Bill Calhoun, Kevin Jacoby, Tim Gauntt, Brandon Miller, Dennis Adams, Chris Wilkinson, Blake Sumner, Carmen Norcross, Devin DiNofa, and Tom Carey competed in drills and learned new plays and techniques. The team also competed exceptionally over other teams who previously attended the camp. After defeating the extraordinary team at Delran High School, Maple Shade tied state champion West Deptford.

The Maple Shade Human Relations Club teaches students the importance of philanthropy. Students participate in Red Ribbon Week by traveling to local elementary and middle schools and teaching students the danger of drugs and alcohol. During the winter, members organize a Homeless Sleep Out. Students are able to understand what it is like to be homeless by sleeping on cardboard boxes in the football field without food, drink and limited blankets. The students also donate a large amount of goods to a local homeless shelter. Members also participate in the Burlington County Human Relations Meeting and sponsor the Junior High dance.

The Maple Shade Senior High Chorus scored a win at the Virginia Beach Music Festival Competition.
