SJ Schools: Oak Crest High School Oak Crest High School located in Egg Harbor Township offers a well-rounded curriculum including courses in foreign languages, performing arts and sciences. Beginning their 2003-2004 school year, Oakcrest hopes to continue to model and exceed the achievements of last year. Congratulations to the following students who made last year a success for Egg Harbor Township and Oakcrest High School.

The Girl’s athletic association spent a busy year dedicated to fun events, community involvement and philanthropic activities. The club holds several activities such as the 9-11 observance at the sand castle, the Alzheimer’s walk, the MS Bike-a-thon leadership workshops and volleyball tournaments. The club also took part in Brian’s Run, raising more than $4,000 for the Leukemia Society. The club also donated to Operation Teddy Bear (collecting toys and bears for the Atlantic Co. Sheriff’s at Christmas Time) and donated $1000 to St. Paul’s Chapel in NYC and to the to the Salvation Army in NYC.

In June, the Egg Harbor Township school district held their annual Ralph W. Martin Education Foundation Golf Tournament. Proceeds benefit the students of Oakcrest and Absegami high schools. The foundation, established in 1997, honored the late School Business Administrator and Board Secretary, who served the district from 1959 to 1997. The foundation provides funds to make a better educational experience for students in the Egg Harbor Township School District.

Oakcrest is gearing up for a great fall soccer season, after coming off last season victorious in a huge win against Timber Creek in the South Jersey Group 3 soccer tournament. The game was almost a loss until Chi Okpala charged through the defense and scored the winning goal with only 32 seconds left in overtime. Congratulations Okpala and to the effort of the team!

Oakcrest students show their appreciation for History with their International Museum Display. Students from World History and English II write a paper on the topic and create a museum quality project as a visual representation of what they have studied. The best projects are awarded and displayed at the school. Congratulations to 2002-2003 winners Mark Robbins, Steve Turner, Jelena Tanasic, Linsie Miller, Adina Farcas, Sara Hempel, Ciara Masterson, Marina Marx, Melanie Lee, Jaime Earl, Donna Shuler and Jennifer Lauer.
