Residential Property - Buying a house is an important moment in life, and there are many complex issues that come with the choice of a home. Understanding how the law affects buying a home can make it easier.

Condominiums - Condominiums are apartments or townhouses that are owned, rather than rented, by the inhabitant. Because condominiums often include common property shared by their owners, there are specific laws that deal with condominium ownership.

Foreclosure - If a person cannot keep up with payments on a mortgage, the holder of the mortgage may be able to take the property from its owner. The law sets out the process a mortgage holder must follow, and, in some cases, allows the property holder to redeem the property.

Condemnation - The government's ability to condemn property may affect a property owner if the government seeks to exercize its power of "eminent domain." Under this power the government may take over property if it can show that doing so serves the public good, and if it pays fair market value for the condemned property.
