Improper Right or Left Turn
New Jersey Statute: 39:4-116 (Special Right or Left Turn)


If a driver does not follow the right or left turn arrow marking on a roadway, the special turn arrow signals on a traffic light, that driver may be guilty of making an improper turn.


Penalties:
If the driver is found guilty:

  • a fine of $78; or
If a driver pleads guilty in Court, or the Court finds the driver guilty after trial:
  • A fine of $50 to $200; or
  • A jail sentence of up to 15 days; or
  • Both.
